Shell where there shouldn't be
Quote from Alexander McKay on 2022-03-24, 17:12I've had an issue with a few different models now, where the slicer creates a a layer of "Shell" where there should just be emptry space. Previously I'e been able to adjust the model or settings to get rid of it (although I'm not aexactly sure what setting/changes made the difference).
Any clues as to why the slicer is doing this, and how I can make it stop?

This model contains numerous topological errors and it is not watertight (2566 holes).
Despite the software trying to fix these errors, there is no guarantee that it will succeed with it. Sometimes there is no exact solution for it. In that case it is luck if it succeeds in fixing all problems or not at a particular height.
I fixed these errors for you and attached the model for you! Hopefully it will slice well.
To avoid these cases in the future, please make sure that your model is watertight and does not contain non-manifold geometry. (The treeview in the cad shows the open contours)
Best Regards,
András
