Pause printing

I need to be able to pause a print at a particular layer in order to insert a metal nut. This was easy to do in the old CraftWare software, but as fancy as the new software is in many ways, it seems to have no way to do this.

Edit: Okay, I managed to make it work for now by manually editing the gcode and inserting the stop instruction. But that really shouldn't be necessary. This was easy in the old software.

Hi Aubrey,

Yeah, it was easy, and is high up on the list of things to add to CraftWare Pro as well.

In fact it will be available using two different methods:

  • The one you're familiar with, on the GCode viewer page.
  • Setting pause positions on the Manufacturing page, so you won't have to slice first and then set the pause positions.

Regards,
Norbert

Did you notice any documentation or release notes from CraftWare explaining why the pause-at-layer feature was changed or removed?

Totally understand your frustration — being able to insert pauses at specific layers is such a fundamental feature, especially for things like embedding nuts or magnets. It’s disappointing when newer software drops that kind of basic but powerful functionality.
