Partially streng modification

Hi Craftbot Team,

i like to have something like a brush (like for the support allready exists) to markt region whitch need special stability.

That you can choose a region independently of the layerhight which need special infill and shell settings.

Thanks for your great work at this slicer,

Joel

Hi Joel,

Thanks for the request!

This is something that is actually under discussion in the development team, because this is a feature which could open up lots of possibilities.
My favourite one would be using different toolheads for marked surfaces with a brush, creating instant multicolor prints.

The base for this is already inside the slicer engine, just not with a brush selection yet.
For now, 3D objects can be used as Modifier objects to alter the settings for the Infill. That 3D space defined by this object can have any kinds of custom settings. In the "Default" strategy there is a pre-set example with custom fill type and density.

We're working on making it available for any kinds of area types to alter, even multiple areas at once. Also adding the ability to use different settings if multiple Modifiers are in the scene so one could alter the fill density higher at that region and another one could alter the fill density lower somewhere else.

But getting back to the brush thing you've suggested:
It's not too straightforward how a 2D surface selection on a 3D object should alter the contents of the 3D object.
We're trying to find an algorithm for it which is good for all kinds of models, and is sufficiently fast as well.

Regards,
Norbert
