Craftware pro
Quote from Cody Zimmerman on 2021-04-22, 17:28Ok so I just downloaded the new Craftware while it is nice and looks to be very promising i have found a few flaws in my first print efforts.
- no raft settings. you can turn it on seems to print at Mach 1 speed witch isn't going to work looked for a way to slow it down and nothing I came up short
- top layers not in the very top are not printed so I sliced a simple calibration cube and the inset Z had no bottom just infill see picture it printed this way
- can we upload our print profiles from the old craftware?
- please add upload to or direct print function from the slicer this is a huge step back to 1998

Quote from Norbert Fekete on 2021-04-26, 17:30Hi Cody!
I moved this thread to the Troubleshooting section.
Thank you for downloading and trying out Craftware Pro! Let's go through the flaws you've mentioned:
- No Raft settings: Yes, there are currently no settings visible for the user to change the Raft behavior. The reason is simple: Raft is not a built-in thing for the slicer engine.
In any other slicer engine you have a list of parameters you can change for the Raft, and there you have it.
For Craftware Pro however Raft is merely just a "script", a set of rules which at the end will create the Raft. We've made a predefined set of rules for it, which is not visible to users, because they need pretty high-level understanding of the engine if you want to work with them.
The important thing here: There will be a Raft editor so users can easily adjust parameters, and everything else will be done in the background, without you needing to dive deeply.- Top layers not in the very top are not printed: Well yes, this is a bug. Thanks for the find! We're on it, the fix is expected to be in this week's release. Stay tuned! 😉
- Print profiles from the old craftware: I've thought about this a lot. And maybe I will someday create a converter, but it is not as straightforward as it seems. Craftware Pro was created from scratch and is using a new, unique slicing engine. It is totally different from the one the old Craftware uses.
There are settings which are of course convertible, like base Extrusion Width, or Perimeter speed and stuff.
But on the other side there are parameters which cannot be used in Craftware Pro.
So all-in-all: It can be done, but you would only get a partial conversion.- Please add upload to or direct print function: As it is a pretty popular request, and I myself was thinking of it several times, it will be likely implemented in the near future.
First, we will stabilize the engine, implement the basic features needed for slicing, and then we can go on to things like this.
Until then, you can use a USB pendrive, CraftPrint for oldschool CraftBots, or the built-in web interface of the Flow series.- Slicer doesn't add M190 S100: Another bug. Thank you for this find as well! As I see it puts in M140 instead by mistake. This will also be corrected, expected in this week's release.
- Arrange or orientate manes it disappear from printer: Can you provide an example for this one?

Quote from Magori Andras on 2021-04-27, 14:06Hi Afro3D,
Seam painting is on our road map for sure!
We have sophisticated algorithms under the hood to calculate the seam position at this moment. Right now, they have default parameters. We will provide a way to adjust these parameters from the user interface in the next weeks – there are lot of possibilities 😊.
The seam painting is clearly a more controllable way to solve the problem, but it needs manual intervention from the user, so the automatic seam estimation and the seam painting should coexist in the software.
Please open a topic for each new feature request in the corresponding category (feature requests), so based on the community's reaction, the development team will know where to focus the workforce!

Quote from Alan Crarer on 2021-07-15, 17:12This is a bit open-ended, but if anyone can address one or more of these questions I'd be most grateful!
- Where can I get an IDEX FLow XL profile for Cura?
- Where can I get filament profiles for Craftware Pro (besides the measly 3 provided (ABS, TPU, PLA))? I'd like to get (at least) PETG, HIPs. . . why don't they provide a download area for this stuff?! Seems pretty "we 3D printers 101"
- Is Craftware Pro worth learning? Seems like it's not ready for prime time on first inspection. . .
- Does anyone actually like their Craftbot? I'm deeply disappointed in mine. Quality's on par with my 6 year old Lulzbot. Reliability's lower.

Quote from Craftware Team on 2021-07-15, 17:49Dear Alan,
- Sadly there is no official Cura profile for the craftbots. So we cannot provide you one officially. You can ask in the ultimaker community to include the craftbots in Cura.
I have seen such requests in the facebook community, but there were hardly any answers. 🙁- The development team is working on it right now. There will be a massive filament database included in the next release. The online profile exchange surface is coming later, most likely coming at the end of this year.
- You are right. Craftware Pro is not mature enough and has a long way ahead of it. It is a 3 months old software compared to the big brothers with 5-10 years experience in the market. It needs to be polished, and the development team is dedicated to bringing you successful software! We hope it is worth your time to learn it. Just be aware of the development intensity of the slicers on the market. With the Craftware pro we aim for fast paced development, frequent meaningful releases, so our product will catch up in no time. There is no need to be the first passenger on this train, if you are unsatisfied with the current state, but it is surely beneficial to check back later in a few weeks, months and see what changed!
- I don't think it's my place to answer this question 🙂
(I have a cbPro for personal use at home. I really love it, and am satisfied with it. I print a few times a week, and the only maintenance I have done since I set it up, that I occasionally wipe the bed with a dry cloth to remove the dust. - I think that means reliability.)Best Regards,
András

3. So what are we supposed to use in the meantime?
Quote from Craftware Team on 2021-07-16, 09:33Dear Edward,
The legacy Craftware is still a safe choice for everyone. It served as the primary slicer for all craftbots for 7 years, so we can say it is matured enough. It serves the Flow generation as well.
We are going through a transition process right now. Despite the legacy Craftware has its limitations in terms of feature set compared to the new one, it offers stability and still does the job. It is available and will be available in the future too.
The new Craftware Pro offers a wider range of features, some really advanced functionality, but it needs some time until it will offer the same reliability of the legacy Craftware or the other competitors. The whole company is working hard to reduce the length of this period.
Until that everyone can choose between the stability of the old CratWare and the advanced functions of the new CratWare Pro. I think the two software can both be a part of one's slicer portfolio at the same time.
The reliability threshold is different for every user. Some use the Craftware Pro as primary slicer in this state, and some have to wait months until it reaches the needed reliability.
Another problem is that there is a blurry line between can't use and don't know how to use. From the feedback we deduced that a big part of the Craftware Pro error reports are received, because the users didn't find the right place for the settings, or misunderstood the presented options. This is why the on market time is important, and we have to focus on a more self-explanatory user experience and training materials.
We are sorry for the inconvenience caused, and we are working hard to satisfy everyone's needs.
We hope you will stay with the Craftware Pro and with your opinion take part in forming it into a cutting edge slicer!
Best Regards,
András
