Auto generate supports??
Quote from Joseph Meier on 2021-05-03, 04:15I cant seem to get any form of supports working. When I slice a model that obviously needs supports none are generated, in the support menu no matter what I do it forces me to use paint on supports which is overly complicated, and every time I paint the whole area that would need support the model hangs indefinitely when slicing and im on a basically top of the line windows machine so its not my hardware. Do we have some documentation that might include how to use auto generated supports?

Thank you for using Craftware Pro!
We are working on our training materials, and user guides.
In the mean time you can watch this:
Guide video about supportHave some tips:
- Select the model that you want to augment with automatic support, or select none (then every object will be augmented)
- In the area support tool you can set the desired minimum slope too
- You can click on the "Apply" button to generate the support objects
- You can edit the supports with support painting, after generating the automatic supports (left button adds, and right button removes)
Can you elaborate the exact case during you are encountered this problem?
If none of these helps, there is a chance that you encountered a bug. In this case please fill a ticket, and attach your model file/project, so the development team could reproduce the error, and fix it as soon as possible!

I followed the steps you provided exactly and tried various minimum slopes. with a generated solid from the toolbar it worked fine but on my stl with large overhands it didnt apply any supports when I clicked apply

The tool cannot find the optimal slopes if there are problems with the model. (When it is non-manifold)
First let's make sure the stl is good.
You can check it for example inside the program: On the CAD page if the object has "Contour"-s, it means it is non-manifold, and needs to be fixed first. If the model is good, then there is probably a bug in the support tool.

Norbert

Majoras_mask_woodgrain_high_rez.STLit slices fine just cant auto generate supports in this slicer, works fine in legacy slicer and simplify 3d.

I can see it does not have any flaws, a perfect model, so the problem is definitely not there.
Weird, I can hand-paint the support, but the "Apply" will not generate it automatically.
This is a bug, we'll look into this, and will fix it as soon as possible!
Until then the manual support painting can be used. I quickly painted and sliced it. (Slicing is a bit slow, performance improvements are on their way)
