Introduction
In this document you will find information about the installation steps for CraftWare Pro, as well as how the automatic update system is working, and how can you safely uninstall the application.
If you are interested how to silently install the software, and how to silently uninstall it, please contact our customer support team.
This document contains information about platform-specific parts of these as well. You will find notes about them during explanation of each part.
Installing CraftWare Pro
Downloading and starting the installer
You can download CraftWare Pro from the software download page at: https://craftbot.com/software
Select your operating system, then click on the “Get the latest CraftWare“ button.
The download will start immediately.
Windows
Start the downloaded installer executable, and it will start the installer application.
MacOS
Open the DMG image file, and start the installer application inside it. After the installer is finished, you can eject the DMG image.
Linux
Add executable rights to the downloaded installer (either with 'chmod +x', or by right-clicking on it), and start the installer application.
Installing the application
After starting up the installer, you will be guided through several steps in the installer.
Welcome page
The installer will start up with a simple welcome page.
If you’ve previously installed another version of CraftWare Pro, the installer will ask if you would like to remove it before installing. Only a single instance of the program can be installed, so the installer will end if you click “Cancel“.
Windows
Uninstallation of previous version will require elevated access. Right before uninstalling, a system popup will show if you would like to give access to the installer. Not giving access will result in cancelling the uninstallation.
Linux
Uninstallation of previous version will require root access. Right before uninstalling, a system popup will show requesting root password for the uninstaller. Not giving access will result in cancelling the uninstallation.
Installation folder page
In this step you can select the installation folder, along with some additional settings which apply to your operating system.
Windows
The default installation directory is “Craftunique\CraftWare Pro“ under the system’s Program Files directory.
You can enable or disable file type associations here for G-Code files and different 3D model file formats.
MacOS
The default installation directory is “Craftunique/CraftWare Pro“ under the Application directory.
The installation consist of several files, which is why it must be installed in a directory of its own. Do not set the Application directory, or your home directory as a destination, as it will put additional files there. And the uninstaller will clear out the whole directory.
Linux
The default installation directory is “/opt/Craftunique/CraftWare Pro“. This is set as default so any user can access it.
The installer will register CraftWare Pro on the system, so it requires root access. Setting the target directory to your home directory will not change this behavior. Currently there is no option to install the software without requiring root access.
Disk usage information page
On this page you can confirm the disk usage of the installed application.
License agreement page
You must accept the license to be able to proceed from this page.
You can modify here the Start menu shortcut name if you would like to.
Final confirmation page
Here you can review the information once more before continuing with the actual installation.
Installation page
Here you can see the installation progress. It will take a short time to install the application.
Windows

Finishing page
After installation is complete, you will have the option to automatically start CraftWare Pro after clicking on “Finish“.
After installing CraftWare Pro
Running the application
Based on different operating system behaviors, the CraftWare Pro application can be quickly accessed by different means.
Windows
A start menu shortcut is installed for the application.
MacOS
The application can be quickly accessed from the Applications directory.
Linux
A “.desktop” initialization file is installed on the system, as specified by freedesktop.org. This will automatically create a desktop entry for X11 or Wayland based distributions.
Also a symlink is created for the application, so it can be started from a terminal using the “CraftWarePro“ command.
The installed files and Uninstallation of CraftWare Pro
After installing, the selected folder will contain several files for CraftWare Pro.
Most of these will not be of any interest, except the main application executable and the uninstaller application.
Windows
The main program files are inside the “bin“ directory. There the “craftApp.exe“ is the CraftWare Pro executable file.
Inside the “Licenses“ directory you can find the End User License Agreement as an HTML file.
The “CraftWareProMaintenanceTool.exe“ is the installer’s executable. Running it will start the uninstallation of CraftWare Pro.
Use either this program, or the system’s own application removal option to uninstall the program. Failing to do so can cause complications, as the installer is taking care of information about the installation for the automatic update.
Uninstallation of CraftWare Pro using the system’s own application removal option can only be done by the user who installed CraftWare Pro.
MacOS
The main executable program is the “CraftWare Pro.app“. There is an alias automatically created for the application by the installer under the Applications directory for quick access.
Inside the “Licenses“ directory you can find the End User License Agreement as an HTML file.
The “CraftWareProMaintenanceTool.app“ is the installer’s executable. Running it will start the uninstallation of CraftWare Pro.
Preferrably use this program to uninstall CraftWare Pro. The installer is taking care of information about the installation for the automatic update, which is cleaned out by the uninstaller. You can still “uninstall” the application by removing its installation directory, but the usage of the uninstaller application is advised.
Linux
